One-Pot Chicken Biryani Recipe


One Pot Chicken Biryani is a popular and delicious Indian dish that is loved by many worldwide. This aromatic and flavorful dish is easy to make and can be customized to suit your taste preferences. In this blog, we will explore the steps to make One Pot Chicken Biryani

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb boneless chicken pieces
  • 1 cup long-grain basmati rice
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tsp cumin powder
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 cardamom pods
  • Salt, to taste
  • Water or chicken broth, as needed
  • Cilantro and lemon, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the chicken: In a bowl, mix together the chicken, yogurt, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala. Let it marinate for at least an hour, or preferably overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. Cook the onions and spices: Heat oil in a large pot and sauté sliced onions until they are golden brown. Add in whole spices like bay leaves, cinnamon, and cardamom, and cook until fragrant.
  3. Cook the chicken: Add in the marinated chicken and cook until it is browned on all sides.
  4. Add the rice and liquid: Once the chicken is cooked, add in long-grain basmati rice and stir until it is coated with the spices and chicken juices. Add in water or chicken broth, along with salt to taste, and bring to a boil.
  5. Simmer and serve: Once boiling, cover the pot and reduce the heat to low, and let it simmer until the rice is cooked and the liquid has been absorbed. Fluff up the rice with a fork and serve hot with cilantro and lemon for garnish.
